Diving Into The Deep With The Blue Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte

From developing the groundbreaking luminescent material Luminor to inventing its patented crown protecting device, the history of Panerai abounds with technical and aesthetic advances.

The arrival of the Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte stands as another milestone for the brand, which ally Italian style and Swiss technical mastery; it is the first time that two signature elements of the Panerai design vocabulary—the Carbotech case and Blu Notte dial—are present in the same watch. The pairing unites the resistance of Carbotech and the subtle radiance of the sun-brushed blue dial. Together, they create an impression that is casual yet possesses strength, charisma and elegance suitable for any setting. The limited-edition offering of 500 pieces will be available exclusively online at panerai.com.

Carbotech is known for offering greater resistance to external forces, including corrosion. To create the material, alternating layers of carbon fiber are fused with cutting-edge polymer PEEK under high temperatures and pressure. The process produces Carbotech plates with a warm, matte black surface and slight tonal variation throughout; as a result, the case of each Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte has fine variations which give the watch a unique character.

Carbotech is the ideal foil for the lustrous blue dial: light appears to play across its surface like rays of sun filtering through fathoms of the sea

The sandwich dial structure features numerals, indices and black steel hands featuring white Super-LuminNovaTM that glows green in the dark and strikes a crisp contrast against the surrounding azure color.

Within the Carbotech case resides the P.9010 caliber, an automatic movement with hours, minutes, small seconds and date functions. The hour can be changed without affecting the movement of the minute hand, thanks to a device that moves it forward or backward in increments of one hour. Built entirely in-house by the Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel, the caliber features a three-day power reserve and displays the technical and aesthetic sophistication that characterizes each watch conceived by the Panerai Laboratorio di Idee.

Water-resistant to 30 bar (~300 meters) Luminor Marina Carbotech Blu Notte features a Blu Notte alligator strap with a matte finish, a strap in dark blue rubber and a trapezoidal pin buckle in titanium with DLC coating.
