From the 9 to 14 April 2013 at the Teatro dell’Arte of the Triennale di Milano, for the Milano Design Week, Officine Panerai is hosting an installation which invites the visitor to take part in an immersive journey into the identity of Officine Panerai, the haute horlogerie brand whose Radiomir and Luminor have since the 1930s and 1940s been two of the best known and widely recognised icons of international watch design.

The title of the event, THE FACE OF TIME, refers to the watch face or dial, one of the most distinctive elements of the Panerai watch. It is an elegant expression of simplicity and function, very familiar to today’s connoisseurs of haute horlogerie thanks to its individual design which has remained substantially unchanged since 1938. On the stage of the Teatro dell’Arte, the characteristic Panerai dial emerges from its two-dimensional state to transform itself into an exhibition environment that starts with design and goes on to describe the continuous research into technical innovation and the history of a brand which has always found its special frame of reference in the sea, in line with its past as a supplier to the Royal Italian Navy.

Around THE FACE OF TIME installation, the stalls of the Teatro dell’Arte, transformed into a striking area with subtle marine echoes to welcome all enthusiasts of haute horlogerie, will also display “Time and Tide”, the kinetic sculpture devoted to the Panerai watch by the multidisciplinary artist Felice Limosani, inspired by the thought of Geoffrey Chaucer who united two of the founding elements of the Panerai identity in his phrase: “Time and tide wait for no man”.
