Official description
Officine Panerai presents the Pocket Watch Tourbillon GM Ceramica, an exclusive pocket watch which combines the technical content of contemporary haute horlogerie with echoes of the history of the Florentine brand: indeed the inscription “Pocket watches by the main Swiss makers” appeared on the window of Orologeria Panerai in Florence at the start of its activities.
The Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica consists of a Radiomir case 59 mm in diameter in ceramic made from zirconium oxide, inside which is the P.2005/S movement with tourbillon regulator, enhanced by thesophisticated skeleton structure which enables distinctive technical aspects of this movement to be seen. The P.2005/S has a power reserve of six days:the unusual feature of this sophisticated movement, completely developed and made in the OfficinePanerai manufacture in Neuchâtel, is that the tourbillon cage makes two rotations per minute on an axis perpendicular to that of the balance, so as
to compensate for running errors due to gravity. A small ecru disc reflects the rotation of the tourbillon by making two rotations per minute within the small seconds dial positioned at nine o’clock.
The chain of this pocket watch is attached to the case by a skeleton device shaped like the characteristic bridge that protects the winding crown of the Panerai Luminor, and it too is made of black ceramic. The individual links, the shape of which is inspired by that of a nautical chain, are linked by universal joints which make it flexible as well as strong. Once the chain has been removed by pressing on a small button, the Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica can then be transformed into a table clock by using the special support, also inspired by the shape of the bridge, which holds the case. The chain can also be stored inside it. The Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica is an exclusive Special Edition. As is traditional with the brand, this pocket watch is also water-resistant and guaranteed to a pressure of 3 atmospheres (30 metres).
